Prayer Requests
July - December 2001
The effect of our prayers can be very powerful, especially when we all
pray together. We maintain an email list of Cursillistas who wish to
receive notices of prayer requests from other Cursillistas. If you would
like to add your email address to the list, please send a request to Dan
and Julianne O'Brien.
To send a prayer request to be sent out to this group, also send it to Dan
and Julianne O'Brien who will forward it to the email list. We will
also add it to this page, but since this is a public forum, we will edit
them to remove last names and other personal identifying information.
December 22, 2001
Please pray for Rick who had another heart attack last
night. He is at St. Francis and will have a procedure done tomorrow,
Friday I think, to see what damage if any this heart attack
has done.
Let us keep each other constantly in prayer. Especially
during this holiday season as so many travel to see family
and friends.
Have a happy and holy Christmas! |
December 19, 2001
My friends Mike and Susan ask for your prayers for a
healthy baby in 2002. De Colores. -Rebecca
Please pray for a situation i am undergoing right now. I
don't mean to be mysterious, but I describe the details
here. Pray that God's will will be done in this situation
and that I will recognize the good in whatever the result
is. Thank you for your prayers. - a fellow Cursillista
Hello everybody: My daughter, Mary, lost her baby on
Monday. The baby was born (stillborn) at 7:15 a.m. Monday.
Mary was 22 weeks along. It was a difficult labor,
especially knowing she was going to deliver a dead baby. The
baby's name is Skye Demee (pronounced DeMay). Please pray
for Mary and for the father, Joel, that they will experience
God's healing love as they mourn the loss of their child.
Thank you, Teresa |
December 17, 2001
We have yet another grandson born Sat. the 15th just in
time for Christmas. Makiyah, 7lbs 0 oz. born to my daughter
Lorena. Mom and Baby are doing good. Merry Christmas to all.
Linda and Larry.
Please pray for Karen, mother of Tina, who has just been
hospitalized at St. Francis and diagnosed with liver, lung,
and spinal cancer. May God give Karen and her family His
unfailing support, love and healing during this difficult
time. |
December 16, 2001
Please pray for one of my students, Megan, who has
suffered a relapse to crank addiction and is now in rehab a
second time. She is a beautiful and intelligent young lady
of 16 with lots of potential but she has had to deal with
some really difficult issues. She is so very precious and
has so much to offer. Pray for her healing and especially
that our Lord will speak to her so that she will know how
much He loves her. Pray also that good friends are sent her
way. I know she can overcome--as my own child has managed to
find her way back from the same horrible situation. Thanks
to so many of you who offered prayer for her. Continue to
keep her in your prayer also as she still has some very
rough times dealing with and keeping her new found health
and faith. In the name of Jesus, Our Saviour, pray with and
for us. Martha

Please pray for Nadine, a wonderful lady in our parish,
she has been moved from St. Edward's Hospital in Fort Smith
to another care facility for people who are dependent upon respirators,
also located in Ft. Smith. Also, please pray for a good
friends daughter who has breast cancer and is in St. Francis
Hospital in Tulsa. Her name is Heather! And one more special
lady, Marian, from ICC. She has finished chemo and please
pray that her blood levels are normal when checked today,
and she'll have a CAT scan next week, and the results
everything will show everything to be clear!

December 12, 2001
The Rosenthal clan are expecting a baby! Please keep baby
and Mom in your prayers as they are rejoicing and thanking
God for this new life.
Please continue to pray for our sister-in-law, Faye, as
her surgery last week went well, but she's still recovering.
And also continue to pray for our brother-in-law, Mel, who
is recovering from shoulder surgery he had last week. This
is the busiest time of year for him and it can be a
challenge to slow down and let the body heal. Thanks Dan
& Julianne
Keep Frances' daughter, Jayme, in your prayers as we
mentioned awhile back that she is to have some major surgery
this Friday, the 14th. Pray for the doctors and for her to
have a successful surgery and complete recovery.
Continue to offer prayer and palanca for the upcoming
spring Cursillos. |
December 8, 2001
Fr. John Brown went into the hospital late in the
week and was transferred to the hospital in Paris, TX to
have a procedure done to remove a kidney stone. The stone
was removed and Fr. is apparently recuperating though he
continued to run a fever. By this time Fr. has probably been
released and should be resting. Please keep Fr. in your
prayers.
Also we received an update on Tim. This was dated on the
6th so we pray that Tim is doing even better now. An update
on Tim: He will be moved out of ICU!!!! He will be in a
regular room, #3106 by noon today (6th) (at St. Francis
Hosp). He is progressing well enough to have all remaining
tubes removed. Thanks again to everyone for your concern and
prayers. We feel truly blessed to have you guys' support!
Tim says hi too
And finally please pray for Robert's sister Janet and her
baby. Janet was delivering on the 7th when we received the
prayer request. Join your prayers with ours that mother and
baby are doing well. |
December 5, 2001
Please pray for a complication-free surgery and a
comfortable/quick recovery for my husband's grandmother
Juanita (Grammer). She is 82 and such a wonderful gift from
God that we pray for her comfort and well-being and hope
that we can enjoy her for many more years to come. If;
however, our time with her is shortened we know that God
will receive her into his kingdom with such joy and pride
for the mother, grandmother, wife, sibling, and friend she
has been throughout out her life. God Bless, Andrea
Please pray for our sister-in-law Faye. She will be
undergoing surgery on her head for a condition called "cloiria
malformation" (sp?). Pray for the doctors, the success
of the surgery and Faye's quick recovery. Dan & Julianne |
December 4, 2001
My Aunt Juanita had a stroke after Thanksgiving and has
had some seizure activity as well. She is currently in
rehab. My uncle, her husband, collapsed today while visiting
her. He has a heart condition and has been up staying with
her except at night. Today they admitted him to the
hospital. Please keep them and their family in your prayers.
Their daughter has recently buried her 32 year old son, my
cousin, and his children are having a difficult time. Also a
member of the Cursillo community, Maribel, needs prayer for
her husband Tim, who will undergo a 5 bypass heart surgery
tomorrow, Wednesday, December 5th. Thank you, Julie
Please keep in your prayers family members of many
Cursillistas who are struggling with illnesses, separations,
job discernment, and stress that Christ will comfort and
guide them and that their family and friends will be the
hearts and hands of Christ for them.
Brandie and I would like to thank you for your prayers
for Gabrielle and her surgery last week. The surgery was
performed without complication. Gabrielle is progressing in
her recovery each day. Brandie and Gabrielle will be
returning to Dallas next Wednesday (December 12th) so the
doctor can evaluate her progress. Please continue to pray
for her recovery. Thank you, Jeff and Brandie |
December 2, 2001
Thank you. If you can please add my daughter Jaime in
your prayer requests. She will be having surgery on Dec. 14.
They will be cutting her stomach 1/3 its size, wrapping her
intestines around her esafoguas [sp] to build it up, replace
a valve that is missing and taking out her gall bladder.
Thank you and God Bless DECOLORES - Frances
This was received by a fellow Cursillista: Thursday night
an 8 month old little girl named Delaney pulled a hot Fry
Daddy on her body. Her Mom, Deena, pulled her out of her
walker and also burned herself. They lifeflighted the little
girl to Scott and White and then to Parkland Burn Center in
Dallas. She has 40% burns on the trunk of her body. They are
going to amputate at least 3 fingers on one hand and will
have to skin graft from her Mom and Dad to help repair her.
She is in very critical condition and her lungs have filled
with water. They don't know if she will live or not. They
say the next two or three days will decide. They live in
Florence, Texas and have two other children. They need as
many prayers as they can get.
Continue to pray for Gabrielle as she recovers from
surgery this past week.

I would like to pray for the Campbell Family. Someone in
the family has cancer & they need spiritual guidance,
peace, understanding, and healing!

November 24, 2001
Please pray for my daughter and all young people as they
battle to make Godly choices. Pray also for their support
systems, that they lift up their teenagers in prayer and
that they allow God to use them to fortify their teenagers
with His virtues; to help parents say and do the right
things and to be hopeful and strengthened themselves. A
fellow Cursillista
I e-mailed you some time back about a friend who had open
heart surgery and was having trouble healing due to
diabetes. They decided to go back in and when they did they
found cancer and only gave him 2 weeks-2 months. His name is
Charlie and he is a parishioner of St. Pius in Tulsa. Please
keep Charlie and his family in your prayers. Thanks Chris
Please pray for our 10 month old daughter Gabrielle who
will be undergoing surgery on Tuesday November 27th at 8
p.m. at Children's Medical Center in Dallas to repair a
bi-lateral cleft of her hard and soft pallet. We anticipate
that it will be a 2-3 hour surgery and a 10-14 day recovery.
She will likely be in a lot of pain following the surgery.
So, we ask your prayers for a successful surgery and a quick
recovery. Your prayers were definitely heard and answered
earlier this year after her birth and during her first
surgery. De Colores, Jeff and Brandie
Our family is in urgent need of your prayers for the
following reasons:
1. My 15 year old daughter, Mary, is 19 weeks pregnant.
We just found out a week ago and she is halfway through the
pregnancy. The baby is a girl and the doctor says is doing
just fine. I have decided to home school Mary for the rest
of the year. She is a freshman. Please pray for the health
of my daughter, that at this young age she will be able to
safely and easily deliver this baby. Pray for the birth
father, Joel, and his family who live in Arizona. (Joel is
15 also.) The plans are that this baby will be placed for
adoption in a loving home of a couple who has not been able
to conceive children biologically. Pray for the couple who
will adopt this child. Pray that this can be done without
anger, strife and bitterness between our family and Joel's
family. Pray that the welfare of this child be top priority
for all parties involved. Pray also for my daughter that
once this baby is delivered and she hands her over to the
adoptive family, that the emptiness left in her heart will
be filled with God's love and peace.
2. My mother Margie, 60, has lung cancer. She is not a
candidate for surgery because of her already existing
respiratory problems. Please be in prayer on Thursday at 8
a.m. She will be in St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa while they
do a bronchoscopy to go down at look at her lungs. The
doctor has made it very clear that she could die from this
procedure - that she could stop breathing. She is very
afraid of dying. Please pray for her spiritual and physical
healing.
Love, Teresa
We thank God for our blessings and our struggles.
We ask God to please be with all of us during the good
times and the hard times. Remember to offer our struggles up
to Him willingly with joy, just like Jesus did.
God, we ask you to give peace and love and acceptance to
all of those in need of our prayers. And we thank you for
all of the people that let us know of our brothers and
sisters whom we have never met, that ask us to pray for
them. Please send your angels to comfort them. De Colores!

November 20, 2001
Please continue to pray for Eve & Matt's neighbor
Amy. Tomorrow she goes back to the doctor for an MRI. she
will get the results Monday. I noticed her speech is slurred
again, and she said she is feeling different. God Bless her
she has been so positive, but you can see the quality of
life she maintains seems minimal. Also include her husband
Jeff in your prayers. We need a miracle for them.

November 18, 2001
Update on Nadine! I went to see Nadine today in ICU at
St. Edwards's Hospital in Fort Smith. She was taken off of
the respirator for a few hours, but had to be placed back
on. She was having trouble exhaling, and had to be placed
back on it. Her color looks good, and she so wants to talk
but not able to. She has a good grip in her hands also, as
she held my hand tightly while I was talking to her. She is
far from being out of danger. Please continue to keep her in
your prayers. Her nephew told me today the doctor says the
cancer is not the factor now, but the emphysemia she has,
has scarred her lungs. She is a wonderful lady and my family
loves her very much! Thank you, Jan.
Please pray for my mother-in-law Ann. She had been two
years clear of cancer, and about a month ago under went
surgery, and they took a mass the size of a grapefruit from
her colon. At that time they removed part of the large and
small colon, and a few lymph nodes to check for more cancer.
Nothing came from those following tests. Earlier this week
she went to the dentist because of a mouth sore. She found
out it was cancer. She started radiation treatment this past
Thursday. Her daughters are taking this news very hard, and
aren't helping in being supportive. Ann needs our prayers
and support, so does the family. For now it doesn't seem
that medicine cannot stop what is happening with her body.
It will take our prayers, and God's will. I will let you all
know what happens when we know anything else. De Colores

November 17, 2001
Please pray for Valerie who is the daughter of one of my
co-workers. Today, she had a brain aneurysm and is at St.
John's Hospital undergoing surgery. She is a single mom of a
two-year son. Lisa.
Please pray for Lynn and her family, as they deal with
the loss of their father. Susan
Please pray for Tod (Janet's dad) who suffered a stroke
last week. (I had the name incorrect on a previous email).
Please pray for my parents who are traveling this month.
They arrived at our house yesterday, four days ahead of
schedule. My mom twisted her knee and it caused them to cut
short a number of stops on their trip. We are now getting
her around in a wheelchair. We are glad to have their
company a few extra days, but do wish the circumstances were
better. |
November 15, 2001
Please pray for a wonderful lady in our church, Nadine at
Immaculate Conception - Poteau, she is in ICU and is dying
of lung cancer, she is in a semi coma to keep her sedated so
she won't pull the tubes out. I know she is scared and has
no immediate family other than a cousin and several friends
Catholic and non-Catholic. Please keep her in your prayers
as she makes this final journey and that she has a peace
come over her to know that she is not alone. Thank you, Jan.
Dear Cursillo family, Please pray for my brother Stanton
and his family. They are going through some difficult times
with their marriage. Pray for the Lord to guide and help
them resolve their issues and keep their marriage together.
Please also pray for my sister Mary who has been out of
touch with our family. Pray for the Lord to work a miracle
in her life to see and feel his love for her. Charlie. |
November 13, 2001
Please lift my friend Vicki and her family up in prayer -
her father while undergoing heart surgery was determined to
have bone marrow cancer as well. She is miles away from her
father while he deals with these life events. She is deeply
spiritually rooted and I know her strength comes from our
living and loving Lord. Andrea
Please pray for my four month old nephew who has been
hospitalized several times for various reasons. He is still
in much need of improvement. Thank you all so much. Tamara.
Please pray for Janet's dad, Tom, who suffered a stroke
last week, he's having a difficult time. Eve.
Please pray for my parents, Maurice & Melva, as they
left for Asia today. Pray for good health, weather and safe
travels. Julianne |
November 10, 2001
Our friend, Don Butler, who was facing immediate
amputation of his leg and possibly would not survive the
surgery, has been transported to Dallas. The doctors there
believe he will not need amputation. He will be undergoing a
series of surgeries, the first of which is tonight
(Thursday) at 9:00 p.m. We are praising God for this turn of
events. Keep up the prayers. Thank you...Bob and Evy
Please pray for Rob. His Leukemia has returned and we
understand he will have to go to Kansas City for bone marrow
translant. Pray for the entire family as they face this
difficult time.
Please pray for my husband, Tommy. He is under a lot of
stress at work. We are also struggling with a decision to
move to another city where he has been offered a job and we
are trying to sell our house. We have been praying night and
day about this decision, and some scary things have been
occurring with our family and friends: (we feel like we are
under attack, spiritually)
This weekend a family member was hit by a drunk driver
going 100 mph, and the passenger's side was completely gone.
He was not wearing his seatbelt and is not injured, thank
the Lord. The drunk driver died at the scene.
Tommy's cousin's wife, Connie, works at a bank and was
held at gunpoint and robbed in Arkansas Tuesday. She is
shook up, but ok.
Our next door neighbor, Linda, needs many prayers. She is
40 years old and had a stroke this weekend. Also keep her
mother, Mabel, in your prayers. They live together and Mabel
is very upset.
My good friends, Kathy and Mike, are expecting triplets
in a few months and she just found out she needs to be on
bed rest and she is only 23 weeks. She asked to be put on
our prayer list, that the babies are safe and healthy and
she makes it a few more months before having the babies.
God bless all of you and your prayers. I strongly believe
prayers have interceded on behalf of these incidents. Please
keep my family in your prayers and we continue to pray for
all of you!
Thank you, Karen and family |
November 7, 2001
Please pray for a friend, Don, who is a paraplegic and is
facing an amputation in coming days. Pray that the infection
which is requiring this has not spread into other parts of
his body and, also, that he is able to survive the surgery.
Bob and Evy
Pray for Anne Marie, cousin of Paul & Norma, who
passed on last week.
Please pray for my wife Karen and her two brothers. Her
brother Larry was diagnosed with bone cancer in April, went
through treatment and the cancer was in remission. Yesterday
we found out that it had come back and he is not expected to
live. Another brother, Richard, was diagnosed with prostate
cancer this week. DeColores, Rick |

Please add Rob to your prayers. He went in for a
bone-marrow biopsy today because his blood counts have been
low. Thanks!
Please pray for Dr. Greg who has been diagnosed with a
brain tumor. They believe the tumor is malignant and he will
undergo surgery tomorrow morning (Tuesday) at St. Francis.
Please lift Greg, his wife and their two young daughters up
in prayer. Thanks!
Please pray for the repose of the soul of Erva (Lynn's
mother) who died on All Saints Day.
Please pray for Julianne's sister, Mary. She and her
husband are having serious problems and they need our
prayers. Thanks, Dan |
November 1, 2001
Please keep Carl in your prayers. He is a lifelong
parishioner in Muskogee. He has severe heart disease. In the
last few days he has had 49 cardiac episodes--more than he
had ever had before his last six month check up. He is
second on the transplant list now. He had become friends
with the last transplant patient who was transplanted last
week but who died the next day. Carl has three daughters at
home and one in college. His wife Lei has cancer. He still
gives all he can to our parish and has asked for our
prayers. Thank you, Martha
I would like to ask for healing prayer for my Mom, who is
recovering from total knee replacement and is in a lot of
pain -- . Thanks, Diane ++ |
October 25, 2001
I just completed my Cursillo weekend. After the closing
ceremony, I learned that my father (who was diagnosed with
lung cancer in February) was extremely ill and was to be
admitted to the hospital in Tulsa. His doctor told us on
Tuesday evening that my father has congestive heart failure.
My family and I would appreciate all prayers.
Thank you! De Colores! Lynn
Please pray for Terri, a coworker of mine. Terri is
having a lot of difficulties in her life right now and is
have trouble dealing with them. Her mother has been
diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer, one cousin with Lupus,
another cousin with cancer, her daughter also has an
illness, and her husband has now filed for divorce after

out of her home and then decided to drop out of school. She
is very confused right now and needs all the prayer she can
get. Also keep my sister and her husband in your prayers.
Needless to say they are very concerned about her and
nothing they have done so far seems to help with the
situation. DeColores! Dan |

We have much to be thankful for in our movement and in
our Diocese.
First a prayerful welcome to all the women who have just
completed the Cursillo weekend and are beginning their
fourth day. We ask God to watch over them as they move
forward in their environments, gaining in love and
understanding. We also pray that they will each find a group
reunion that will support them as they go.
The youth of of Bishop Kelley will be making a Search
weekend this next weekend. Many of the youth a children of
Cursillistas and all are moving another step forward in
their faith. In addition a number of them will be making
their Sacrament of Confirmation the week following the
Search Weekend. What great back to back weekends. Please
keep them in yours prayers these next few weeks. |
October 21, 2001
Please pray for my husband Terry's grandmother, Winnie.
She was with hospice & they have sent her home. She is

The husband of one of my co-workers just had a biopsy
done on a prostrate tumor. His name is Carol. They do not
have the results of the biopsy, but previous test have come
back with very abnormal levels, and the tumor is very large.
At this time, he says he will resist medical intervention if
the tumor is cancerous. I would appreciate prayers for his
healing, as well as for his peace with the necessary
treatments that may accompany his diagnosis. His family,
especially his wife, is in need of prayers for faith and
strength in this process.
Thank you very much, Gail
Richard Cushing, a work associate, had heard I knew some
prayer warriors and asked if I could trouble them to pray
for his wife who is very ill. I told him that I suspected
they would be happy to. So please lift Richard and his wife
Deanne up to the Lord. Peace, Paul
I just want to thank everyone for all the e-mails,
prayers, cards, and phone calls etc. This was unexpected and
very hard for myself and family and without all the support
It would have been even harder. Thanks again, it is nice to
know that I belong to such a community/family that is making
a difference in our world. DeColores, Chris |

Cursillistas, Please pray for the repose of the souls of
the three men who died in a plane crash in Canada. Dead are
Charlie Ryan (President and Chief Operating Officer of The
NORDAM Group), Jim Pielsticker (chairman and chief executive
officer of Arrow Trucking Company) both of Tulsa and their
Canadian pilot. Their small plane was attempting to land
after a hunting trip. Injured are Robin Siegfried (two
broken legs - surgery in Canada) and Mike Case (returning
injured to Tulsa). Ice on a wing seemed to be partly to
blame. Details are sketchy. Thank you for praying for the
families as well as the dead and injured. Joan LeBlanc and
Robert Poole have asked for these prayer intentions.
This is a prayer request sent by Paul Pojawis for our
brothers and sisters with the Via de Cristos movement.
Please pray for the two nephews of Juanita, weekend #46.
Tom, His lung cancer has now spread to his brain. His
brother Danny was just in a truck accident and isn't
expected to live. Just as Juanita was hanging up she also
asked that we might remember her in prayer this morning, she
is having a skin cancer removed from her face at 11:00 A.M.
in Tulsa. Her husband Jack is a member of our Agape Prayer
Team for weekend #4. We see this often just before a weekend
and know what has to be done. Please lift this family up in
prayer to the one who > has the divine power to heal in
every situation. With God all things are possible.
Please pray for this friend of a co-worker. Her name is
Fran, she is a minister in a church in Van Buren, Ark. She
was diagnosed with cancer in her colon as well as in both
lobes of her liver. They took out 1/3 of her colon, and some
of the small intestine. Due to the involvement in her liver,
we are at the point where we need a miracle, but we intend
to work on that through prayer. We strongly believe in that
power, as does Fran. If you know of other prayer lists,
please request her name to be on them. As soon as her doctor
gives her the okay to fly, she and her husband will go to
New York for a few days, where there is a doctor who does
alternative medicine with cancer patients. Good track record
of remarkable turn-arounds with critical cases like this.
Fran has a close friend who has been treated by this clinic
for over 10 years, for pancreatic cancer that "should
have killed her" in a couple of months. So, we hold to
this hope, as well, for Fran. It is helping us keep positive
thoughts for her. Thank you! |

Pam & David write: Cursillo Family, Your prayers have
really worked here at our household and in our lives. I
thought some of you may have forgotten to say those "3
Hail Mary's " for my continued Miracle in Progress
concerning my Lupus. How unfair that thought was but my test
results just weren't good, I broke my foot in 2 places, had
incidents of blindness and problem with my feet which made
me feel that my faith was slipping. Well, I had another
treatment this month and my test results are super, only 4
points under normal. I really believe your prayers and the
intercession of Mary has healed me and now the test scores
are in to prove it! Your prayers for my mom's ovarian cancer
have been heard because she just passed the 1 year mark with
no signs of cancer and she was in Stage 3. We are so happy
she is still alive and able to be "nanny" to
beautiful Rachel. I read the prayer requests that are
forward and see so many requests for people in need. Please
know that prayers work. God loves us so much and has brought
us together as a family to know Him and love one another!
May God Bless all of you! Prayers of Thanksgiving for God's
Miracle In Progress! For those of you that suffer their is
hope in God's Healing love! Hope this brings some sunshine
into your lives as you and the Holy Spirit have given many
beams of light to us! Thanks!
First of all, Michelle and I want to thank all of you for
your prayers for our son Mark and for our family this week.
It has been a long week to say the least. It is a long
story, but on Tuesday we took our 9 month old son, Mark to
the doctor where he was rushed to the hospital immediately.
He was pretty much unconscious throughout the day and the
nurses, as well as, Michelle and I, thought we were going to
lose him when we first arrived at the hospital. He started
waking up at about 4:00 pm on Tuesday and has been getting
better ever since. Today, he was back to his old self and we
got to bring him home this morning. All of his blood work,
his X-rays and C-scans all came back fine so the doctors
have no idea what was causing his body to shut down the way
it was. I have no doubt that he is home with us today
because all of the prayers that were offered up for him. So
besides Michelle and I having a little more gray hair all is

I would like to ask our community for special prayers and
sacrifices for a friend, Edward "Teddy" Yew, a
seminarian for the Diocese of Tulsa, who is being ordained a
Deacon today in Rome. It is also the feast day of his patron
saint, St. Francis of Assisi, and so ask for intercessions
of this Holy Saint in heaven. Teddy will be ordained a
priest here in Tulsa this June. He is of course a very
special and unique individual whom God has placed in our
Diocese. Glory to God and as Teddy would say. " His
cause, our passion." you can e-mail him a greeting at
<edwardyew@mac.com>
Peace, Faith, Love + + + The Grant Family
From Karen: I wanted to give you all an update on the
conditions of my family members since our community has been
praying for them for the past few weeks. First, my father
had a pacemaker implanted yesterday (10/2) and is doing
fine. My mother however, was admitted to the hospital last
week and they found her appendix had ruptured and the
infection had gone into her bowel area. They performed
emergency surgery and has been treated with antibiotics
since then. She is still recovering in the hospital. They
are not sure if she can walk or not, yet. My sister, Lisa
has severe displasia and has had a biopsy done. She should
know the results within the week. Even if it is cancer, the
doctors assured her they should be able to catch it in time.
Thank you to everyone who has included my family in their
prayers. Please keep praying.....I know it works! Bless you
All. -Karen
Please continue to pray for all the candidates and team
that will be on the women's Cursillo next week. We can

Prayer Request for Child in Amarillo, TX
Last Friday about 12:30 P.M. my three year old
Granddaughter, Lauren and her babysitter were on their way
to do some shopping in a Ford Taurus. At an intersection
North of Amarillo, around the River Road area a large pickup
with a Rhino Guard Bumper failed to yield right of way and
ran a stop sign. The pickup hit the car. Lauren was buckled
in her car seat in the middle of the back seat. The pickup
hit the side of the car about the middle. We are not sure
what caused the terrible injury to Lauren. She had no broken
bones or other injuries but severe head injuries. We have
been told it was the Rhino Guard Bumper that hit her. She
weighs about 25 lbs.
She was rushed to Northwest Texas Hospital where they put
the pieces of her little skull back together with metal pins
and all the pieces were there. Some broken glass was also
removed. A few hours later as her brain began to swell the
doctors told son & daughter in law that if they did not
perform a craniotomy she would die, and if they did perform
it she still might die or surely not fully recover. She was
rushed into surgery again, and it was performed. She has
improved some but very slowly. The first 72 hours were very
difficult with several trips for CAT scans in hopes of
seeing how the brain was reacting. We have now stopped
worrying about the brain so much and are concentrating on
the other vital organs. Her heart beat is strong.
Her lungs are filled with fluid and they have diagnosed her
with Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome. Some of the tissue
in her lungs has hardened. They are doing respiratory work
every 2 hours. Her kidneys were not functioning properly but
have improved. Her little face is swollen as tight as it can
swell with both eyes swollen shut, it is also starting to
bruise. It is so hard to see her lying there with all of the
tubes. We have some great doctors and they have all been
really good to talk to us and try to be compassionate. Her
main doctor said today that we are maybe halfway through the
worst part. (I can't imagine what will happen next.)
BUT....he also said today that we were not taking inches
anymore but maybe steps now.
We think she can hear us when we talk to her. I read her a
book tonight and her blood pressure dropped 2 points (a good
thing). I am taking a couple of her favorite books tomorrow
to read to her.
Please pray for Lauren and her doctors that she will have
the strength to endure the treatment and her body will
accept the medicines that they prescribe. Her doctors names
are: Dr. Habersang-Pediatric ER Trauma Specialist, Dr.
Levy-Pediatric ER Trauma Specialist, Dr. Ortiz-Resident with
Dr. Levy and Habersang, and Dr. Steve Cone-Brain Surgeon.
Also pray for the many excellent nurses and therapist that
are working with her.
Name: Lauren age 3 years

I hope to have a prayer chain going around the world with
the help of the internet. Her name has been given to a

pray for us and the healing of our precious baby girl-Lauren
