Prayer Requests
January - June 2001
The effect of our prayers can be very powerful, especially when we all
pray together. We maintain an email list of Cursillistas who wish to
receive notices of prayer requests from other Cursillistas. If you would
like to add your email address to the list, please send a request to Dan
and Julianne O'Brien.
To send a prayer request to be sent out to this group, also send it to Dan
and Julianne O'Brien who will forward it to the email list. We will
also add it to this page, but since this is a public forum, we will edit
them to remove last names and other personal identifying information.
June 29, 2001
Please pray for the son of a friend, 17 years old, who
broke his neck swimming in a creek Monday evening. His name
is Matt. He will be taken to a Shriners hospital in Chicago
soon. Thank you. Lynn
Please pray for Vic, the brother of Robert and Laurie,
who is undergoing medical tests due to his recent
complications with his physical walking abilities. Pray that
the tests and his future health outcome are good.
Pray for all those traveling over the holiday week, that
they may be kept safe, and return home safely. |
June 27, 2001

June 22, 2001
Please pray for the repose of the soul of Joe (father of
Judy), who passed away yesterday. There will be a Rosary for
him, details will be sent out when we know them. Please keep
Judy's mom, Mary, in your prayers, along with all the
family.
Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ, The communist
authorities in my hometown in Vietnam are trying to
confiscate a small chapel at the foot of the hill where a
church was built years and years ago in dedication to Our
Lady of the Protection of the Faithful, who appeared there
to protect the villagers from the invasion of anti-Catholic
soldiers in the 1800's. The local communist officials
ordered the faithful to remove the statue of Our Lady and
the Holy Cross and other religious items out of the chapel
by June 25, 01. After that day they will take over the
chapel. The parishioners are now taking turns to stay vigil
and pray around the clock, in front of the exposed Blessed
Sacrament. They pledge to defend against any illegal
invasion of their place of worship at the last drop of their
blood like their 117 Holy Martyrs many centuries ago. Please
join my countrymen and women in their prayers during this
critical time of our Vietnamese people's long struggle for
freedom of religion and for respect of human rights and
democracy. Thank you very much, indeed. May God bless you
all. Joachim. |
June 21, 2001
Please continue to pray for Jimmie and Ruth Ann. He is out of ICU
and in re-hab and is doing much better. His daughter Shirley had the
cyst removed from her ovaries, it was NOT Cancerous (Praise God) but
was the size of a watermelon!!! Also I would like to add my Mom and
a good friend Brenda who are having tests run, that the Doctors may
find the problems and be able to help them. Thank You, DeColores
Rene.
Pray in thanksgiving for the arrival of Hannah, daughter of Rob
& Lisa who arrived healthy last Thursday morning! Pray for a
quick recovery for Lisa.
From Larry: I would ask for prayers for my Mom. She fell and has
broken her hip. She is going into surgery this evening. The doctor
is very optimistic about the surgery... but my mom is 87 so i am a
bit concerned. Her names is Maria Eva.

baby through a miscarriage earlier this week.
Please pray for the repose of the soul of Jimmy, brother of Liz
who passed away Tuesday evening. Please keep the family in your

Please say a prayer that I may have strength to endure and peace
from God. My husband recently told me he wanted a divorce. He didn't
want to be settled down anymore and that he has met a girl. We have
been married 2 years and have a son together. Christina.
I am asking prayers for my friend- Shenae in OKC. She was in a
car accident with her 5 yr. old and 2 month old boys last night. As
far as we know the children are okay. However Shenae was in surgery
all night on her left arm. Thank You! De Colores! Adelina
Prayers are needed for Michael, and his parents. Don't have a
large forwarding list but I'm hoping that some of you do. Everyone
with large mailing list, please forward what I am writing to you to
ask for your help. I do not really know how to start a prayer chain,
but we need a miracle. Michael is a 2 year-old beautiful little boy
in Clifton Park, New York, and the grandson of a very dear friend of
mine. A few months ago, he started throwing up and telling Mommy
"boo boo in my head." He was brought to the doctors and
tests were ran on him, later that week he started losing feeling in
the left side of his poor little body. They found a large tumor in
his brain. He was brought to a hospital in Boston where doctors told
his family the tumor was too big and it was too risky to operate on
it. His aunts and uncle would not give up, they called Beth Israel,
then E-mailed Dr. Epstein for him to look a Michael's films.
Michael's uncle then drove the films to New York City himself for
Dr. Epstein to look at. Dr. Epstein operated but couldn't remove the
entire tumor and now he has to go through chemo to keep the tumor
from growing and hitting the brain stem. We need all the prayers we
can get for the chemo to kill the tumor entirely. As I write this,
he started chemotherapy and we are hoping desperately that it works.
We need all the prayers we can get. Please stop and say one prayer
for this beautiful baby boy Michael when you read this letter. They
need a miracle of God's healing so that their precious baby boy can
grow up. I am asking you to send this letter, or copies of it, to
everybody you can think of that will pray for Michael. Please also
take his name to your church and church groups and ask others to
pray for his healing. Many thanks and may God bless each one of you
who care enough to pray for a little boy's life. I am asking that
each and every one of you please forward this on to everyone that
you know. Just think if this was your little child going through
this right now. We all know that God can heal this little angel, if
it's His will. Please take time to do this right now. |

answered the prayers. Ethan was diagnosed with Aortic Stenosis, or
his aortic valve was not developed, and transplant surgery to
replace the valve was being evaluated. Two days after the original
diagnoses, a second echo cardiogram was run to determine how fast
the deterioration of the heart was occurring. Guess what? God had
beat them to it and the valve showed multiple sections, or formation
of the valve, and after eight days from the life flight to Tulsa,
Ethan has come home. We are not totally in the clear yet and ask for
your continued prayers, God has answered your prayers.
With tremendous love, Thank you.

From Lisa: Please pray for Jennifer and Steve whose 10 year old
son, Jaime, died today. Jennifer and Steve knew before Jaime was
born that he had severe genetic damage and many serious defects.
They were encouraged to terminate the pregnancy but didn't believe
in doing so (praise God!). They were told that he would live at best
3 years. He suffered a broken leg from physical therapy a couple of
weeks ago and developed complications. It is a true miracle that as
many medical problems as this child had, that he was only
hospitalized one other time in his life and for him to live 10 years
is yet another miracle. His parents were totally dedicated to him
and his older brother. He was a much loved child and brought great

for him that a family could do.

concerning the procedure and for the surgeon. Thank you.
From Julianne: Please add to your prayer list, Fr. Brian Egan. He
is the pastor at my parent's church in Hutchinson, KS. He read a
letter saying he was leaving because of health reasons. He is a
young priest, maybe late 30's, and he has been such a well-loved
priest by the parishioners as well as the school children. The
parish is shocked and prayers for Fr. Egan are very much needed as
well as for the community as they will no doubt, feel his loss. God
Bless.
From Julianne: Please pray for my parents who are trying to sell
their small company that they will be given wisdom in what steps
need to be taken. |

initial surgery date of May 17th in Dallas. As that date draws near,
please pray for Gabrielle and the Doctors that they have a safe and
successful surgery. De Colores.
Please pray for Anna and Mathew. They were in a head on collision

regain her strength and health.

be done in her life.
From Larry: Please pray for my Father who has suffered a Heart
Attack this last week. |
March 31, 2001
From: Martha: I am so very thankful to all of you who have been
praying for my daughter and my family. Catherine has been admitted
to a wonderful drug treatment center and is doing very well. She has
been undergoing a major conversion, and I praise God that He has
sent so many people who are willing to offer us and Catherine up in
prayer. Your prayers for us have truly been a powerful expression of
God's love as we continue to witness her remarkable improvement.
From: David: Please pray for the family of Sandy. He was found
dead of a gunshot wound and it looks as if it may have been a

severity or how she is doing at this current time, but just that she
is in the hospital. Please say prayers for her safety and a quick

J. Croskell is that she had respiratory failure. She was stabilized

for tests. Please keep her in your prayers.
Dear Florida friends of Larry &
Joetta's, Mike and Sandy's
daughter, Christy, finally received the pathology report from her
surgery on February 8th. The news was not good. The cancer has
spread. It was found in one of the two lymph nodes that was removed
during the surgery. Now the rest of the lymph nodes will have to be
removed, followed by chemotherapy. Because of the pregnancy, we
don't know when the surgery will take place. This news came as a
great shock to us all. We fully expected a miracle -- to be told
that there was no more cancer. Christy is handling this latest
setback in the same way she has dealt with this situation from the
very beginning: The baby comes first -- and she is still as
optimistic as she has been all along. She is absolutely amazing, and
we are so proud of her. The rest of the family are doing their best
to follow her lead. It is not easy. Please continue to pray for
Christy, Rob (her husband), the baby, and Mike and Sandy Tobin. They
need our prayers now, more than ever.
